Bikeride through Meijendel to Scheveningen
On a beautiful Spring day, a good friend of mine and I rode bikes from Den Haag, out to Wassenaar (where I live), then through Meijendel to Scheveningen then eventually back to Den Haag. It was a long but really lovely ride.
The ride through the dunes of Meijendel is peaceful and beautiful. These dunes were man made to protect the land, another example of impeccable Dutch water management. There is a bit of wildlife and there were already a few flowers. One thing I really love out here is the presence of small cafes or snack bars in parks. While on your ride or walk you can stop and enjoy something to drink or an ice cream, it's really charming. We didn't exactly have sun, but that's the Netherlands.
At Scheveningen we walked the pier, climbed the tower over the sea and then had a typical meal of kibbling and fries. After that we rode into Den Haag and stopped at a few pubs for beers. It was a nice, mellow Saturday.
